Privacy Policy

Effective date: 27 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information aimingtothrive.com collects, why it is collected, and what happens to it. AimingToThrive is run by one person — me, Vince — from Malaysia.

If anything here is unclear, email me at hello@aimingtothrive.com and I will answer personally.

What this website collects

Email addresses, if you choose to give one. If you sign up to the newsletter or request the free guide, I collect your email address. That is the only thing the signup form asks for. I use it to send you the guide you asked for, and occasional notes when I publish something new. I do not sell, rent, share or trade it with anyone, ever.

Comments. If you leave a comment on a post, the form collects your name, email address and, optionally, your website. Your email address is not displayed publicly. Comments and their details are retained so that follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically rather than held in a queue.

Basic technical information. Like almost every website, this site records standard technical data when you visit — the type of browser and device you are using, roughly which country you are in, which pages you viewed, and which site referred you. This is aggregate information used to understand what content is useful. It does not identify you personally.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser.

This site uses cookies for:

  • Comments. If you tick “save my name, email and website”, those details are stored in a cookie on your device for your convenience next time. This is entirely optional.
  • Basic site function. WordPress uses cookies to keep the site working correctly.
  • Analytics. Anonymous data about how the site is used, to understand which posts people find helpful.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work, though you may need to re-enter your details when commenting.

Links to other websites

Posts on this site link to other places — most often research papers, and my product listings on Etsy.

When you click through to another website, you leave aimingtothrive.com and that site’s privacy policy applies instead of this one. I have no control over what other websites collect. Etsy in particular has its own privacy policy governing anything you do there, including purchases.

I mention my own products in posts. I do not run affiliate links, sponsored content, or paid placements for anyone else’s products.

How your information is stored and protected

Newsletter email addresses are stored with Kit (kit.com), the email service I use to send emails. Kit holds them on my behalf and does not use them for anything else. Comment details are stored on the servers that host this website. I take reasonable steps to keep all of it secure.

I should be honest about the limits of that promise: no website can guarantee absolute security. What I can commit to is that I do not sell your information or share it with anyone other than the email service that sends my newsletter, and I collect as little as possible in the first place.

How long information is kept

Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address.

Comments are kept indefinitely so that conversations on posts remain readable, unless you ask me to remove yours.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me to:

  • Tell you what information I hold about you
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete your information entirely
  • Stop sending you emails

Email hello@aimingtothrive.com and I will action it. There is no form and no process — it is just me reading the message.

If you are in the UK or EU, these rights are protected under GDPR. If you are in California, similar rights apply under the CCPA. I apply the same standard to everyone regardless of location, because it is simpler and fairer.

Children

This website is intended for adults. The content deals with managing health conditions in adulthood. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted information here, email me and I will delete it.

Medical content

This is not a privacy matter, but it belongs on the record.

I am not a doctor. Everything on this website is written from personal experience managing Type 2 diabetes, a stroke, and related conditions, together with published research that I cite and link to. Nothing here is medical advice, and it is not a substitute for talking to your own doctor.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Substantial changes will be mentioned in a newsletter email.
